I think writers struggle with creativity burnout more than we realize. Worldbuilding, character profiles, research, social media, conferences, planning, editing, writing—all of these things are necessary, and they all consume our creative energy. Crazy as it sounds, our work can be life-giving and exhausting all at the same time. My hope is to encourage you to keep creating whatever God places on your heart.
I’m not great at posting consistently because, well, social media just isn’t really in my skill set. But encouragement is.
As often as I’m able, I plan to share a verse about creativity, a prayer for creatives based on that verse, and what you can do with it to breathe life into your creativity.
God created people in his image.
Genesis 1:27
Prayer
God,
Thank you for giving me a creative heart like yours. For giving me the gift of being creative, just as you are. For showing me to take creating one step at a time. For helping me see creating space for rest is just as important as what I create. When I reach my breaking point, breathe new life into me and my words so that I may speak life into others.
Breathe Life
Being created in Creator God’s image means we have a will, thoughts and feelings, and personality. This means you can use your unique self to go and create cool things that speak to people differently than what other writers create. Who knows? Your words might just be the breath of life that gives someone hope for another day. He has given you words, go and use them well.
