Genre: Contemporary romance
Format: Paperback
My rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Reasons to Love
📚 grumpy v. sunshine
📚 small-town romance
📚 fun sibling relationships
Cautions: romance: Intense kisses, there are two scenes where it’s clear the characters are having sex, but it’s not described in graphic detail. We do read about the FMC undressing the MMC in the first and the MMC undressing the FMC in the second, but again, nothing too descriptive. Both characters express lustful thoughts throughout the book, and the romance is pretty quick and intense. language: The book contained minimal use of mild language such as: sh, a, he, da, but didn’t take the Lord’s name in vain. They may have said, “Geez.”
Favorite quote: “No one loves anything they’re miserably chained to. . . . But you own the key to your own lock and don’t you forget it. Set yourself free for a while and that love will come back, just you watch.”
Review:
Though the romance was a little more descriptive than I typically enjoy, I loved the characters. The small-town vibe was so sweet! The relationship between Noah and his sisters—the love and the banter—is sheer perfection. The tender way he loves and treats and touches Amelia is extra swoony with a dose of sweetness. Amelia’s softness, compassion, and understanding of Noah’s tough exterior and teddy-bear heart is how heroines should be. Neither asks the other to give up everything for them; instead, they work together to figure it out despite the struggle. Overall, a sweet story. Other than that, I especially loved Mabel and her meddling in Noah’s life as well as her wise words. Annie, Noah’s sister, was another fav. So, while I appreciated the main characters for who they are, I’m actually now just super interested in seeing if Annie will get her own story.
