Review:
Sweet baby Eloise and Broody McBrooderson, Gray, are living rent free in my head right now. Their relationship and story are so sweet. Gray is most definitely the grumpy to Eloise’s sunshine, but I’m so here for it. I adored Poppy and Dallas’s story, so I was happy to see them make an appearance here, but I’m mostly doing a happy dance because there is another Holidays with Hart story. This family is my favorite, and I hope we get more of them in Rayna’s story. Please tell me she gets a story, and hopefully with Finn. (Mainly, I hope to see more of Dallas and Hawke’s team. They sure are an entertaining bunch!)
One of the best things about Courtney’s stories for me is that I know what I’m getting myself into. The characters aren’t perfect, and their backstories always pack a potent punch despite the feel-good vibes of Courtney’s writing. That balance takes skill, and Courtney’s got it in spades.
The way her characters “talk out” their problems either with family, friends, a significant other, or even in internal dialogue also gets me. Oooh boy did I see so much of my timid approach to relationships in Eloise, but I also admire the way she embraces exactly who she is. Maybe one of these days, I’ll learn to give myself the same grace and love.
With all the craziness in the world and my life, I find more and more that my soul craves sweet but swoony romance books, and My Lucky Charm certainly delivers. Plus, what’s not to love about Holiday themed books?
