your book, your way
editing
I started editing professionally in 2014 with Lifeway Press in Nashville. Since then, I’ve worked with publishers, non-profits, small businesses, indie authors, and first-time writers. I genuinely love what I do. I believe in the power of stories and storytellers, and I’m here to help you make your writing reader-ready without losing your unique voice.
I know the process can seem confusing and even intimidating, so whether you’re a new novelist or veteran author, here’s what I can do for you.
- Listen. You’ve got big ideas, and I’m here for it. I’ll provide you with brainstorming sessions, coaching, story structure, and attention to detail, so your content resonates with the people you’re trying to reach.
- Encourage. Editing doesn’t have to be scary. I believe in honest feedback, kind delivery, and turning edits into conversations. It’s your story, and it should be told in your voice.
- Review. I’ll read your content at least twice before sending it back to you—once as a reader and once with my ink pen (or track changes) in hand. Developmental edits come with an editorial note to help you understand the heart of suggested changes, and copy edits come with a personalized style sheet to guide your future content endeavors.
- Share. With a background in publishing and a certification in developmental editing from the University of Washington, I bring industry expertise, a sharp editorial eye, and a deep respect for your story and your process as a writer.
- Connect. If you need additional edits, proofreading, or design for your project, I’ll connect you with industry professionals I trust.
Your friendly neighborhood editor,

Types of Edits
All editors have different processes, so I’d like to take a minute to clarify what each type of edit looks like when your manuscript hits my desk (or inbox).
developmental edits
The developmental edit (sometimes called the content or substantive edit) focuses on the big picture of a story. This is a collaborative process, during which I work with you to fine-tune your manuscript, enhancing its message and power through:
- structure, organization, flow of content
- character arcs and development, point of view, and dialogue
- plot, pacing, and setting
- clarity and continuity of theme
- style
line & copy edits
Line edits help you enhance clarity, flow, and style at the sentence and paragraph level. In copy edits, details are king: grammar, spelling, punctuation, and alignment with a specific style guide. I help you make your work shine without losing your voice. Through these line-by-line edits, we’ll look at:
- word choice
- subject-verb agreement
- sentence structure
- punctuation
- readability
- fact-checking
- formatting
proofreading
A proofread is a quick review of the final manuscript. Typically, this occurs after typesetting and design to catch glaring errors in grammar, organization, or design.
