Places We’ve Never Been

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Reasons to love:

-summer RV road trip
-friends to enemies to lovers
-fun sibling relationships
-beautiful locations out west

Themes:

Cautions: a descriptive kiss, a few other kisses; FMC sleeps beside MMC at one point but she just fell asleep there, nothing else happened; no foul language that I can remember; drunkenness mentioned; one of the characters is said to be gay, but it’s just mentioned a few times; it’s not a focal point

Format: Hardcover (ordered a former library book on BetterWorldBooks)

Genre: YA Romance

Favorite quote: “You think too much. People like you, stop overanalyzing it.”

Review:

I loved the main characters, Norah and Skylar. Especially when I saw that Norah was an artist/animator and gamer. Love the female representation in that field! The flashbacks to their earlier friendship were so sweet—their support and acceptance of each other showed such a great example of how friends should be. It was neat to watch them sort through how their relationship had changed and what they wanted in the future—and how to make these new versions of themselves fit together. Willow, Norah’s female best friend, was kind and a voice of reason when Norah started to spiral, and I loved Norah’s banter with her brother, Ezra as well. The themes of growing up and growing together, embracing history and the new, and having the guts to go for your dreams weave seamlessly throughout the book.
